21st March 2022 is a historic moment for children’s rights in Wales. From this day on, physically punishing children will be illegal in Wales.
The NWSCB held a further meeting with representatives from Welsh Government regarding the awareness raising work which has started but will continue over the next few months. A lot of materials will be made available for safeguarding boards across Wales and targeted campaigns are underway for specific sections of the population. One area that will impact North Wales is the number of tourists coming into the region who will be unaware of legislation in Wales. The work taking place on a national level is already looking at how we can raise awareness around this particular issue
The NWSCB will be facilitating a national event with a selected panel of experts for multi-agency practitioners to direct any questions to during safeguarding week.
