Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. Some PowerPoint documents do not meet colour contrast ratios. Does not meet the WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.4.3 Contract (Minimum).
  2. Some PowerPoint documents have missing alternate text. Users of assistive technologies may not have access to information conveyed in images. Does not meet the WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
  3. Some select elements do not have accessible names. Does not meet the WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
  4. Some labels do not meet minimum colour contrast ratios or have alternate text. Does not meet the WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) and WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
  5. Required ARIA parents role not present: menu, English / Cymraeg. Does not meet the WCAG2.2 AA criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).

We are working with our web designer to resolve these issues by 1 September 2026.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents don’t meet accessibility standards – for example, they may not be marked up so they’re accessible to a screen reader. The accessibility regulations don’t require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Alternative versions of our reports and strategies may not meet accessibility requirements, such as Easy Read documents, but there will be a version of each report or strategy that does meet accessibility standards. Any new or revised PDFs or Word documents we publish should meet accessibility standards, unless an alternative accessible html version is provided. Some PDFs that have been created by partner organisations or are based on older templates may not be accessible.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • We are working to raise awareness of the need to meet the accessibility regulations.
  • We have controls in place to make sure that all new content published on the website complies with the accessibility regulations.
  • We aim to commission a full audit of the website in the next financial year March 2026/27.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This website was tested in September 2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. This test of a representative sample of pages was carried out by the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC).
We tested our main website platform, available at https://www.northwalessafeguardingboard.wales/

We used the findings from our own basic testing carried out between 11 September 2025 and 18 November 2025. Automated tests against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard were completed using the latest version of Axe  and https://wave.webaim.org/  and manual tests using Silktide Accessibility Checker https://silktide.com/toolbar/.

This statement was prepared on 26 November 2025. It was last reviewed and updated on 29th January 2026.
