A new campaign to raise awareness of the misuse of artificial intelligence to alter images of children.
The NCA’s CEOP Education team have partnered with the Internet Watch Foundation to launch a vital new public awareness campaign for parents and carers, running between Tuesday 30 June and Tuesday 11 August on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
The campaign addresses a fast-evolving threat that impacts families: how modern artificial intelligence (AI) tools are being misused to alter everyday photos of children into explicit child abuse imagery.
The campaign focuses entirely on proactive empowerment. We want to equip mums, dads and carers with straightforward, practical privacy steps to protect their children’s digital footprint. The accompanying resources cover manageable, everyday choices such as the potential risks associated to sharing images of your children online, adjusting social media privacy settings and talking about clear boundaries with friends and family when it comes to image consent. The resource and campaign films can be viewed here.
We are hoping to reach families through our shared dedication to keeping children safer online, ensuring this guidance reaches the people who need it most. To support, we have created a digital partner toolkit designed to make sharing as seamless as possible for you and your team.
If your organisation is happy to support and help us share these resources, please do let us know.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the campaign further, please contact us at ceopeducation@nca.gov.uk.
