Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.
This year, Safer Internet Day takes place on 8 February. The Welsh Government has worked with the UK Safer Internet Centre to plan an exciting and timely campaign, based on the UK theme of exploring respect and relationships online.
In November the Welsh Government launched their annual Safer Internet Day Competition for children and young people, which challenged them to get creative and make a short film about online respect. The winners will be announced by the Minister for Education and Welsh Language on Hwb on Safer Internet Day you’ll also be able to hear from the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.
Bilingual education packs are available to help you run Safer Internet Day activities in your school. There are also a number of lesson plans, activities, worksheets and games on Hwb that can be used as part of your Safer Internet Day celebrations.
Share your Safer Internet Day activities and find out what other organisations in Wales are doing with the hashtag #SIDCymru. You can also follow our activity and tag us with @HwbNews.
