#keepyourdistance campaign gathers momentum

Pauline Bird

Organisations across North Wales are working together to remind young people of the need for social distancing in the region and to help the fight against increasing numbers of coronavirus cases.

The #keepyourdistance campaign is led by Denbighshire County Council and supported by all North Wales councils, police, health board and the fire and rescue service, as well as Glyndwr and Bangor Universities and Coleg Cambria. It was created in response to anecdotal evidence and the national trends/ concerns that young people are not always adhering to social distancing advice.

The activity is predominantly social media based, with a series of messages being published by the organisations involved and re-shared on a regular basis. The messages are also being shared with relevant groups that communicate predominantly with young people, such as youth clubs, schools and social groups.

A number of organisations have supported the campaign with videos encouraging young people to keep a social distance and to play their part in the on-going efforts. These videos are also being shared, with a view to reaching the widest possible audience.
The campaign will be reviewed at the end of October.
