Welsh Government have requested that all Safeguarding Boards adopt the New All Wales Safeguarding Procedures as originally planned in April.
Welsh Government understand that the full implementation as originally intended may not be possible within the current circumstances which we expect to remain uncertain for many weeks and months to come.
In accordance with the request from Welsh Government, we will be working on ensuring that the key principles of the New All Wales Safeguarding Procedures are followed, The North Wales Safeguarding Board have already undertaken significant progress to ensure the key principles of the New All Wales Safeguarding Procedures are followed. We are the only Board in Wales so far that has delivered workshops to multi agency partners. The app has been shared across the region as part of the Multi Agency workshops that have been held.
The Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 and the Working Together Guidance around Handling Individuals cases provide a clear legal framework for agencies to safeguard individuals at risk.
To support the implementation of the procedures, we will be asking Board sub groups to start identifying additional work packages that are required to support practitioners in working with the procedures. At each board meeting an update will be provided regarding progress by all agencies around the implementation of the procedures.
If you have identified any proposed amendments to the All Wales Safeguarding Procedures, please email the suggestions to: info @safeguarding.wales
