FREE TRAINING – The Bigger Picture: Working with Children and Families in Wales

FREE TRAINING – The Bigger Picture: Working with Children and Families in Wales

Organised by: Children In Wales
Venue: Wrexham
Feb 16

16 February 2017, Wrexham – Book Online

This three hour workshop is aimed at supporting a better informed and engaged multi-agency cross sector workforce to deliver Welsh Government Policy.

The session will support people from a wide range of organisations to understand the distinctive Welsh legislative and policy framework for children and families that has developed as a result of increasing devolution from Westminster. The session will consider current Welsh legislation around children and families, Welsh Government policy and strategies on issues including how Children’s Rights are being addressed through initiatives on child poverty, health, social care and education. The course will explore the Welsh Government’s new Programme for Government, as well as initiatives such as Families First, Flying Start, Communities First and Integrated Family Support considering the roles and priorities of different sectors involved in delivering these and the challenges faced by everyone.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Gain an overview of the political context and processes that shape policy in Wales
  • Have a synopsis of the new Programme for Government for 2016-2021
  • Learn about Welsh Government policies and strategies relevant to children and young people
  • Understanding the national priorities for children and family services
  • Explore how their organisation and key areas of work fit with the main policy areas concerning children, young people and families.

Who should attend?

Practitioners, managers and policy makers from all sectors and all organisations keen to explore how their area of work fits in with the bigger picture of child and family policy in Wales. It will help organisations to prepare for predicted changes and to operate effectively within a multi- agency context.

*PLEASE NOTE: TO ENSURE WE HAVE CROSS-SECTORAL REPRESENTATION AT EACH WORKSHOP, WE CAN OFFER TWO PLACES TO EACH ORGANISATION*
