Following two successful conferences on financial abuse and coercive control, AEA Cymru is delighted to be holding our next conference in North Wales.

The conference will be focusing on how the criminal justice system responds to older victims of crimes from reporting crimes to investigation, referral to the Crown Prosecution Service, prosecuting offences and finally sentencing.

We will also examine how to support victims of crime and how adult safeguarding links with the criminal justice system.

Agenda:
•In Search of Accountability – Lessons from Operation Jasmine and abuse in care settings – Dr. Margaret Flynn, first Chair, National Independent Safeguarding Board.
•The CPS- Prosecuting Crimes Against Older People – Gerallt Evans, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Crown Prosecution Service, Cymru
•The approach to serving older people – the Future – Deputy Chief Constable, Richard Lewis, National Police Chief’s Council – Lead on Age Related Matters.
•Making the case for an elder abuse law, 22 years of prosecuting elder abuse. – Paul Greenwood, recently retired Deputy District Attorney, San Diego, California, former Crown Prosecution Service solicitor.
•The abuse of older people in domestic settings: ageism, coercive control and gender – Alan Clark, Professor of Criminology, Aberystwyth University, Dewis Choice Project
•Adult safeguarding – Working together with Criminal Justice Agencies – Carys Phillips, BASW Cymru Committee member and co-chair of the Social Work Law in Wales – Policy Practice and Education Group.
•Making Wales the best place in the world to grow older: stopping the abuse of older people – Steve Bartley, Safeguarding Lead, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.
•Ann Griffith, North Wales Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner.
