Free training funded by Comic Relief

Free training funded by Comic Relief is due to take place in the autumn in relation to CSE and learning disabilities.

Expressions of interest should be directed to Emilie Smeaton, Research Director, Paradigm Research who is delivering the training- contact details are below

To build upon the evidence gained through the UK wide ‘Unprotected, Overprotected’ research study addressing children and young people with learning disabilities who experience, or are at risk of, child sexual exploitation (CSE), Comic Relief has commissioned the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD), Paradigm Research and Barnardo’s to design and deliver training to support professionals to be better informed to meet the needs of this group of children and young people.

This training package will be rooted in learning from the “Unprotected, Overprotected” research project and aim to embed the lessons in daily practice with children and young people with learning disabilities who experience, or are at risk of, CSE. Eight free training events will be held across the UK in October and November 2016. There will be two free training events in Wales, each for 40 professionals. One in South Wales and one in North Wales.

The training is targeted at professionals working directly to meet the needs of children and young people with learning disabilities who experience, or are at risk of, CSE. Other professionals will be considered for a place.

The training will be made freely available to others via BILD and Barnardo’s websites once the training events have taken place.

To register your interest in being offered a place at a training event, please contact:
